Almost in the dying breath of the year ABIGOR pierce the flesh of 2020 with this masterpiece. Great black metal riffs and classical music. As great as unexpected, this is definately the album of the year. 

II - GÖDEN
"Beyond Darkness"

GÖDEN is the musical continuation of WINTER, whose cult debut album was reissued early this year. "Beyond Darkness" is als o top quality and follows up to "Into Darkness" with a modern approach, yet still dark, gigantic and heavy.

III - VÖLUR
"Death Cult"
Prophecy Productions

A very talented band that created this outstanding album. I hope "Death Cult" have the full impact it deserves. An avant-garde work,  full of technique, a great and sometimes eerie atmosphere, and haunting darkness. It has been a great surprise to come across this album and I´m very excited about future releases of VÖLUR.

IV - EURYNOMOS
"From The Valleys Of Hades"

EURYNOMOS never disappoint, after the fabulous trilogy of 7" I was longing for this debut album. It is as good as one could expect. Pure old-school metal merciless attack.

V - SODOM
"Genesis XIX"

Good old SODOM! Genesis XIX has a great late 80s vibe. Probably one of the best albums of the german thrashers in the last two decades.

VI - NECROPHOBIC
"Dawn Of The Damned"
Century Media

It´s no surprise, but NECROPHOBIC released a good album once again. Not as brilliant as previous efforts. but it is solid, consistent and dark as always.

VII - TRIPTYKON
"Requiem - Live at Roadburn 2019"
Prowling Death Records/Century Media

Perhaps I expected a litle more from this recording, or perhaps I expected more from "Grave Eternal". Even so, this is something amazing created by Celtic Frost,  my favorite band ever, and  the fact that Tom Warrior could fullfill his dream and the dream of many fans to see this opus complete, performed so brilliantly and perfectly...it is truly special. Eternal gratitude.

VIII - ONDSKAPT
"Grimoire Ordo Devs"

Sinister black metal. Hateful, morbid, blasphemous.  A great album like their previous one. I hope we don´t have to wait another ten years for a new release, which will surely be gloriously dark.

IX - MÖRK GRYNING
"Hinsides Vrede"
Season Of Mist

A great comeback album. It definitely sounds like Mörk Gryning and it is performed with a great level of intensity. The old roots are there and yet it sounds fresh and new.

X - DROWNING THE LIGHT
"On Astral Wings Of Wamphyric Shadows"

The great album cover gives you a hint of what you are going to find here...ugly, primitive, atmosferic black metal. No sophisticated vampirism, just hideous winged beings sucking every last drop of blood from hundred rotting corpses.

I like their debut album and the demo. I wasn´t entirely satisfied with their second abum but with Rex Vampire caught my attention once again. Wild Deathrhash!!!

XII - SVARTKONST

Yeah, kind of "traditional" Swedish black/death with raw sound and old-school feeling. A very good album!

VOIVOD announced the release of a new live album "Lost Machine - Live" set for release on November 27th through Century Media.  The band released the first single and video for the song "The Lost Machine".  

The album was recorded in Quebec during the worldwide touring cycle for the band´s lates stuidio album "The Wake"

"Macabre Cabaret" is the title of the new EP by MY DYING BRIDE.  It will be released through Nuclear Blast on November 20th, a few months after the release of the full-lenght "The Ghost of Orion".

The EP will be available on LP, CD and digital. It will include three new tracks (plus a hidden track in the physical formats).

NECROPHOBIC released an official video for the track "Devil´s Spawn Attack", taken from the upcoming full-lenght "Dawn of tje Damned".

It is the third track revealed from the album and features Schmier from DESTRUCTION on guest vocals.

"Dawn Of The Damned" will be out next October 9th via Century Media.

UK Death Metallers BENEDICTION have recently released a brand new music video. 

The song "Stormcrow" is taken from the band´s new album called "Scriptures" out on October 16th via Nuclear Blast.

The new ACCEPT album titled "Too Mean To Die" will be out on January 15th, 2021 via Nuclear Blast.  In the meantime, the band presented the first single "The Undertaker".

The single is availabe in a 2 track format, with an unreleased version of "Life´s a Bitch" released digitally and as exlusive 7" vinyl.

Norwegian black metallers WHOREDOM RIFE release the 7” EP “Ride The Final Tide” through Terratur Possession/Ván Records.

The EP consists of the title track and a cover version of Manes´ “Maanens Natt”.

The band issued the following comments: "The Song ‘Ride the Final Tide’ shows a more aggressive side to the band and did not fit the album they are currently working on. Consider this a treat while you wait for the upcoming fullenght. The EP also includes a cover of Manes -‘Maanens Natt’, a band that always meant a lot for the local scene here, and who’s been close conspirators for over three decades.”

The 7” will be available on vinyl and digital only. Thick cardboard sleeve with UV details, insert and a limited blood red color version as usual, Ván Records exclusive.

NECROPHOBIC and Century Media Records have just released an official video for the brand new track "The Infernal Depths Of Eternity", taken from the upcoming album "Dawn Of The Damned".

The released date of the album is set for October 9, 2020.  The album comes once again with artwork by Kristian "Necrolord" Whalin, and as you can see it has nothing to do in concept nor in color to the artwork of the previous album (irony mode on).  Pre-order here.

KAWIR and YOTH IRIA joined forces for the release of a split EP through Hell´s Fire Records in late October.  Besides the cover artwork designed by Giannis Antoniou no further info has been revealed.

After the release of the magnificent debut EP “Under His Sway” YOTH IRIA are working on their debut full-length titled “As The Flame Withers”, to be released later this year via Pagan Records.
